Just a few days ago, my local gas station was selling regular unleaded fuel for $2.69/gallon for at least a week straight. Yesterday, the same price at the station is now $3.09 per gallon. All surrounding gas stations also went up in price. I didn’t even want to look at the price today, but the Royal Farms down the street is up to $3.19/gallon.

There’s no rhyme or reason for it, as far as I’ve researched. And only one major The New Year holiday could be to blamed, but prices during Christmas were at record lows for the year. It’s just a reminder that we are at the mercy of energy companies.

Update, January 11, 2025: Gas prices at my nearby gas station finally dropped back under $3 today.
