March 19, 2025 marked the official grand opening of Baltimore County’s newest park. Many officials were on hand today to congratulate all those who made it possible and to welcome the community. Located at 1900 Wharf Road in Edgemere, Maryland (zip code 21219, for those using a GPS/map app) it offers a variety of modern amenities on its 21 acres. The park’s entrance pays homage to the former Bethlehem Steel Plant.

For the kids, there is the 10,000 square foot playground. Recommended ages are 12 and under with adult supervision. A mother who was on hand during the park’s soft opening said that it is autism friendly. For older kids and maybe young adults, a football sized sports field with LED lighting for night games is available to rent.

A kayak/canoe launch, ADA accessible fishing pier and walking path are also available for outdoorsy types. There are plans for a full sized boat ramp in the future, but a timeline hasn’t been established at press time.

The highlight of the brand new park is its steel plant theme community center building. Paying further homage to Bethlehem Steel are the building’s pillars and facade. The interior features a double court gym, community/meeting rooms and a concessions area.
