DISTRICT 7 CAMPAIGN SIGN CONTROVERSY

Many citizens display campaign signs on their property as an exercise of free speech in support of local candidates. However, a sign posted on private property along Philadelphia Rd. (Route 7) in support of Baltimore County Council District 7 candidate, Cari Santiago, has been reported to the State Highway Administration as a violation. Ms. Santiago is not an incumbent, but opposes the long-ensconced perennial candidate who today met with other incumbent council members to discuss giving themselves a pay raise.
Although the sign is located on private property and does not impede drivers’ views, it was recently reported to the State Highway Administration (SHA) as a violation and will undergo investigation. Meanwhile, signs for incumbent candidates remain uninhibited on private properties throughout the area.
How odd.
The machine keeps grinding, rallying together to vote themselves a raise and using selective enforcement as a campaign strategy. How very odd.
